To date, the problems of ensuring the protection and protection of the world's oceans have become particularly acute for the world community due to the emergence of new ways and means of negatively affecting its waters and resources. The ongoing conflicts between States, the rapid increase in the level of economic development of countries, the development of new technologies and research in recent years have led to a significant deterioration in the state of all components of the natural environment, including the oceans. Despite the existence of a large number of multilateral treaties in the field of marine and ocean protection and environmental protection programs within States, anthropocentrism in the economic development of the leading maritime Powers and developing countries leads to a rapid process of degradation of marine ecosystems, and in the near future the consequences may cause serious damage to the ecology of our planet.
The article analyzes the international legal framework for regulating the environmental safety of the world's oceans in the process of using its waters and resources, identifies problems in resolving this issue at the regional and national levels, including the example of the Russian Federation, and identifies gaps in legislation that make it difficult for States to solve the task of greening all sectors of the economy. The conclusion is made about the importance and significance of international cooperation in the field of protection and protection of the world's oceans from pollution, as well as the directions of interaction between states in the context of new foreign policy realities.
