Abstract

Wildlife conservation issues have been part of the current international agenda since the 70s of the last century. Today, the conservation of ecosystems and their components that traditionally include representatives of fauna is a part of several goals of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development. Despite certain achievements, the problem of biodiversity loss is still far from being resolved: relevant studies and reports on the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) over the past few years demonstrate that the rate of decline in wildlife populations remains at a record high level. Experts are confident that achieving the desired result is possible only through the establishment of closer cooperation between the regions. Given the vast area of natural spaces of the Eurasian region, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is obliged to make a special contribution to the preservation of species diversity. It has the prerequisites for the formation of a common policy on the protection of the natural environment, providing for the solution of the most urgent problems of the protection of wild animals. Moreover, the current lack of the necessary legal framework for the full regulation of such issues is the optimal circumstance for the development and implementation of the most advanced model of environmental safety, taking into account the welfare of wild animals.
