Abstract

The "Convention on Wetlands", also known as the "Ramsar Convention", concluded in 1971, currently has 172 parties. It became the first international agreement in the field of wildlife conservation. China joined in 1992 and was elected as a member of the Standing Committee in 2005. Since joining the Ramsar Convention, China's work to protect wetlands has further intensified. On June 1, 2022, the "Wetland Protection Law of the People's Republic of China" officially came into force in China. The 14th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Wetlands (COP14) will be held in Wuhan from 5 to 13 November 2022.
