Abstract
On October 3–4, 2025, the 4th Kazan International Legal Forum was held in Kazan. The theme of the 4th Kazan International Legal Forum, “#TIMEOFLAW”, was devoted to a crucial aspect of the modern legal sphere — the timing and process of making legally sound decisions capable of ensuring a balance between the interests of society, the individual, and the state, while also taking into account national priorities and the pursuit of harmonization in interstate relations. The Forum was organized by the Republic of Tatarstan, the Kazan City Administration, Kazan Federal University, the Association of Lawyers of Russia, and the Association of Alumni of the Faculty of Law of Kazan Federal University.
One of the central events of the Forum was the session “The Role of International Law in Maintaining Peace and Security Amid the Challenges of the Modern World Order (On the Occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Establishment of the United Nations)”, held in the Board of Trustees Hall of Kazan Federal University. The session addressed a wide range of pressing issues in contemporary international law. Participants discussed the evolution of the principles enshrined in the UN Charter and their application in today’s geopolitical realities, as well as the role of international law in conflict resolution and the prevention of aggression. Special attention was given to the historical significance of the Nuremberg Trials and their impact on the modern system of international relations and international law.
