Abstract

This article examines the key aspects of the international legal regulation of Earth remote sensing (hereinafter – ERS) as one of the most dynamically developing areas of space activities. It analyzes the main international treaties and principles governing the use of ERS technologies, as well as issues related to access to, dissemination, and protection of the obtained data. Particular attention is paid to the role of ERS in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including environmental protection, rational use of natural resources, and monitoring of climate change. In addition, the article explores the specific features of national legal regulation of ERS in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the prospects for its further improvement.
