International legal initiatives for social support and protection of children with disabilities and their implementation in the Republic of Kazakhstan

Abstract

The article examines the formation and development of international frameworks for the social and legal protection of persons with disabilities, including children with disabilities. The authors analyze the specific features of social protection for persons with disabilities in European countries and trace the further evolution of this field. In particular, the study provides a comprehensive overview of key international legal instruments such as the International Bill of Human Rights, the World Programme of Action Concerning Disabled Persons, the general provisions on the equal chances for People with Disabilities, and the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities adopted on March 3, 2008, which continues to play a crucial role in ensuring the rights of people  with disabilities today.

Based on these international documents, the article analyzes the set of measures implemented in the Republic of Kazakhstan aimed at the social and legal protection and support of children with disabilities. The research identifies the main legal, institutional, and social mechanisms developed in Kazakhstan to ensure the rights of persons with disabilities and to promote the formation of an inclusive society.
